Our Journey
New Life Christian Church is a contemporary church designed to offer services to those who believe in Christ and those who don't. We have a fantastic family feel and love to help and support each other.
We believe church is the one organisation that exists primarily for its non-members and therefore we are passionate about impacting the community through helping and showing love to all regardless of background and current situation.
We offer a growing variety of ministries, events and activities for all ages happening throughout the year.
Our Building Blocks
In 2014, New Life purchased the former Nant Pennar Workman's Club in Abercarn.
We are raising the money to completely renovate the building to make it into a fantastic community facility including the Nant Pennar Suite, with 160 seater hall, stage and dance floor.
There will also be a children's room, coffee lounge, games room, new catering kitchen, new toilet blocks and so much more.
The building, when completed, will also be fully accessible to those with disabilities, including a new lift.
Our Beginnings
New Life Christian Church was founded in November 2007 and is proud to be in partnership with Assemblies of God UK. From small beginnings of just 9 adults, we have grown to include people from all ages and backgrounds. The activities and services we offer are constantly expanding as more volunteers come on board and money is raised. We are not content to be merely a landmark but strive to be a vibrant, busy, caring Hub in the community.

Hosted our biggest "Hope in the Park" a free summer event (400+ members of the community attended)

Moved into NLCC's current location - The Nant Pennar Workingmen's club in Abercarn and started renovations

We love our team! We have an amazing New Life family of local & church volunteers who look after our facility and are the workers behind every church and charity activity. The cleaners, coffee bar staff, baby groups staff and even our Senior Pastor volunteer to see our vision fulfilled.

Pastor Haydn Jefferies
Haydn is a real valleys boy, born and raised in Crosskeys, and has been part of New Life since the beginning.
Haydn is a friendly pastor who is an accredited minister with Assemblies of God GB, who loves to share the confident hope and life changing power of a relationship with Jesus.
Haydn, along with his wife Laura, is dedicated to serving God and the people of their valley in South Wales, as well as being devoted parents to Millie and Ben.

Community Development Officer
Laura Jefferies
Laura is a key part of the small leadership team at New Life, with a duel role of Projects and Facilities Manager, and the Community Development Officer. Laura can often be found around the building as she oversees all the charitable activities, community partnerships, and facility regeneration.
Originally from Kinver in South Staffordshire, Laura moved to Abercarn over 20 years ago, when she married Haydn. She is a hard-working visionary who loves to invest in community and individuals who have a desire to flourish.

Richy Haines
Richy is an "no nonsense' Abercarn boy who loves this valley. He is the Worship Leader and Trustee at New Life joining us early in our journey.
Family, God, Golf and Guitars are his life passions, while helping others discover healing and hope.

Lois Greenhalgh
Lois is our Fundraising Officer who works tirelessly to see New Life become all it can be in order to build a legacy in the valleys. With her dedication to helping others and infectious joy, you will often hear the sound of her laughter around our facility.
Lois thrives while jointly leading our Newbies & 2bies groups, and loves a bit of Messy play! With a big heart for both her family and others, Lois has an unshakeable faith that underpins everything she does.

Samantha Newlyn
Sam is both our HR & Finance Assistant, and jointly leads Newbies & 2bies with Lois.
Sam can turn her hand to most things, with a bubbly personality, attention to detail and can do attitude.
Sam's journey with New Life started when she visited Newbies with her baby. She progressed thought various training courses and gained experience and grew spiritually, to become the credit she is to our team today.
